Welcome

Welcome to The Big Blue Sky. In the next few months I'll be using this space to chronicle my semester-long trip to Rome. The plan is to upload both photos and videos, so keep checking those pages for updates.

About Me

My name is Todd Kooser, I'm a third year seminarian at Borromeo Seminary in Wickliffe, OH. In conjunction with the Seminary I attend John Carroll University. I'm spending the Fall 2007 semester in Rome with the Bishop Pilla Program for Italian and Italian American Studies. I'm a philosophy major, and a French minor.

Over the summer I work on a Catholic Family Festival called The FEST You should go check it out sometime. In my spare time I like to fly planes, play guitar, and work on various computer related projects. If you want to know more about me, check out my Facebook profile. I also set up a web forum for a bunch of my friends that you're more than welcome to join.

I hope you enjoy these thoughts and reflections on my time away.

The Trip

As I said, this trip is taken through John Carroll University. I depart on Sunday, August 26th and return December 18th. There are three other seminarians travelling with me, as well as a number of students from John Carroll. The first few weeks are spent near the town of L'Aquila in Italy. I won't have a steady internet connection during this time, so updates might be a bit spotty. Around the beginning of October I'll move into an apartment in Rome, and begin classes. I'll have regular access to an internet connection in Rome, so I'll be in much more frequent contact.

The time in L'Aquila is an intensive Italian language and cultural immersion, and the time in Rome involves studying at the Urbania Pontifical University along with other various trips around Europe. Some of the stops will include Assissi, Tuscany, and Paris, with others yet to be determined.
